Renting in France means signing a bail (lease), paying a dépôt de garantie (deposit), and doing an état des lieux (inventory) when you move in and out. The CAF (Caisse d’allocations familiales) can pay housing help called APL, and your landlord must give you a quittance de loyer (rent receipt) when you ask.
