Naturalisation by decree includes an interview (entretien d’assimilation) where you show that your French reaches B2 and that you share the values of the Republic. The agent may ask about your life in France, your reasons for seeking nationality, and your understanding of French values and institutions.

At B2 you should state a clear position, give reasons, and handle a follow-up question without losing the thread.

What B2 sounds like here

B2 means fluent, structured French: you can present a viewpoint, weigh advantages and disadvantages, and react to an unexpected question. Use a formal register and connect your ideas (d’abord, ensuite, parce que, c’est pourquoi).

La naturalisation par décret comprend un entretien d’assimilation. L’agent vérifie que votre français atteint le niveau B2 et que vous partagez les valeurs de la République. Il peut vous interroger sur votre vie en France, vos raisons de demander la nationalité, et votre compréhension des valeurs et des institutions.
